Collaborative Grill

2018

This project provides a cooperative and intimate experience between the participants in the event, that sit around the grill and take part in preparing the food. The grill enables
slow cooking and shared eating as a social event. People around the grill enjoy a tactile experience like eating with their hands and feeling the heat of the food they eat and the warmth of the fire.
My Inspiration came from nonwestern cultures that use shared dining. Korean grill influenced the cooking methods, Indian “Thali” influenced the plate size and shape. On top of the grill, there is a variation of the Arab “saj” for baking pita bread, which is used instead of silverware.
